I don't know if you are like me, but I never envisioned myself as a homeschool parent. We lived in a Blue Ribon School District with excellent accomplishments, test scores and sports. But, alas, it was not for my daughter.
Liz was an artist in a jock town. Let's just say the two didn't match. Bullying, low test scores, anxiety, depression, threats of killing herself if she had to go to school one more day all added up to us bringing her home.
That was 11 years ago. Since then, she has graduated high school, moved out, and gotten a terrific job and is succeeding in life! This from a child who doctor's told us she would kill herself by she was 18!!! Boy, did she prove them wrong.
Her younger sister has never been to public school and has been challenged by many learning disabilities and vision disorders, yet she thrives academically because we are able to trust what she needs to learn and how she needs to learn it.
How did we do it?
We trusted our children. Yes, that is what we did. We provided a basic outlines of what they needed to learn based off of the World Book Encyclopedia's Typical Course of Study and allowed them to learn it as they needed, when they needed and felt ready to receive it.
Listen to the videos below to see how it works.
